Wilderness at the Smokies Resort

Our travel adventures this month took us to the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee.  We stayed at Wilderness at the Smokies Hotel & Waterpark Resort.  Wilderness at the Smokies, is located minutes from Interstate 40 and is situated in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains.  This year-round vacation destination has established a new standard for family vacations to East Tennessee.  Among the over 700 rooms and suites, the resort also features a 36-hole championship golf course, a variety of dining and shopping areas, and their newest indoor “dry” activity center, Adventure Forrest.  Adventure Forrest houses an array of activities from rock climbing walls, rope ladders, and even black light mini-golf.  A definite must do when you’ve have too much fun in the sun, or on that gloomy day when you just want to stay indoors.  On the property there are also two outdoor water parks, an indoor water park with a wave pool and the Southeast’s only Surf Rider. The Wilderness at the Smokies resort has something for everyone, from toddlers to Grandma and Grandpa.  Relaxing hot tubs, numerous waterslides, and indoor adventures.  This magnificent property is also adjacent to a 200,000 square-foot conference, convention and event center known for hosting the area’s largest conferences, athletic events and trade shows.

Plus, there is always something new at this resort.  Every year they add something bigger and better than the year before. In the spring of 2013 they added the Cyclone Racer waterslide to their outdoor Lake Wilderness Water park and in 2012 they added Adventure Forest area and the Wild Vortex slide.  Their creative team is currently working on additions for 2014, we can’t wait to see what they come up with!

What makes this resort so unique is the entire experience.  Once you are at the resort, you never have to leave the comforts of the property.  They have thought of everything to make your stay an amazing experience.  The staff is friendly and will make you feel right at home from the minute you arrive. This year round resort is a definite family destination. Non-guests are welcome anytime to come and experience the Adventure Forest activity center.  This interactive area is something you must put on your list of “to do” while vacationing in the Smokies.
